Hadas Kotek

Hadas Kotek is a Visiting Professor in the MIT Department of Linguistics and a Data Science Manager at Apple's Responsible AI team. She specializes in syntax-semantics interface, gender bias in linguistics, and NLP. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from MIT (2014) and has held academic roles including Lecturer at Yale and Visiting Assistant Professor at NYU.

Her research focuses on linguistic annotation, ellipsis licensing, and focus movement, with notable work on gender representation in example sentences and bias in LLMs. She co-authored influential studies on gender bias in linguistics textbooks and led the LEXING symposium on linguists in industry.

Recipient of the 2019 LSA Linguistic Service Award for her Pop-Up Mentoring Program, Kotek actively advocates for gender equity in academia. She teaches advanced courses on LLMs at MIT and contributes to industry-academia collaborations in AI ethics.
