Specialist Dr. Habibe Topuz is an accomplished ophthalmologist serving in the Department of Ophthalmology at Istanbul Okan University's Faculty of Medicine since December 2024. With over three decades of clinical experience across multiple Turkish hospitals including Van State Hospital and Private Lokman Hekim University Ankara Hospital, she has developed expertise in diverse ophthalmological subspecialties.
Dr. Topuz completed her medical education at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine (1986-1992) followed by ophthalmology residency at Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine. Her professional journey includes compulsory service periods in Edirne Meriç, Kırklareli, and Van Muradiye State Hospital, establishing a strong foundation in comprehensive eye care.
Her clinical interests span cornea and ocular surface diseases, glaucoma management, contact lens fitting, dry eye treatment, keratoconus management, laser refractive surgery, oculoplastic procedures, pediatric ophthalmology, and low vision rehabilitation. Dr. Topuz's research portfolio from 1997-2004 demonstrates consistent scholarly activity focusing primarily on corneal topography, with significant contributions to understanding age-related corneal changes, refractive properties, and the relationship between pterygium development and corneal curvature. Her work also includes community-based research on elementary school eye screenings in the Van region.
