HUYNH Han Vinh is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore. His research focuses on N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), ligand design, and electronic parameter analysis, notably developing the Huynh Electronic Parameter (HEP) for evaluating ligand donor strength. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and has received awards such as the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2003-2004).
Education:
- Dr. rer. nat. (2002), Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster
- Dipl. Chem. (1999), Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster
Research Interests: Development of non-classical carbenes, donor-flexible ligands, NHC catalysis, and stereoelectronic mapping. His group explores applications in bioorganometallic chemistry and materials science.
Recent Article Trends: Focus on mesoionic dicarbene systems, palladacycle formation, and molybdenum precursor chemistry. Studies emphasize ligand design, electronic parameter evaluation, and catalytic applications.
Awards:
- Asian Core Program Lectureship Award (Japan 2019, Hong Kong 2010)
- Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship (2003-2004)
Teaching: Teaches CM2112 Chemistry of Elements and CM5211 Contemporary Organometallic Chemistry.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Huynh Group, specializing in NHC chemistry, electronic parameter studies, and catalytic systems. Collaborates on material deposition and surface etching technologies.
