HANDAN SEZGİN

Asst. Prof. Dr. Handan Sezgin is a faculty member in the Nursing Department at the School of Health Services, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). She holds a PhD in Internal Medicine Nursing from Marmara University (2013), MA from Istanbul University (1996), and BSc in Nursing from Istanbul University (1986). Her research focuses on diabetes management, elderly care, pain management, and innovative healthcare education methods like telemedicine and online platforms. She has conducted studies on caregiver burden, nurse professional attitudes, and the effectiveness of breast self-examination education.

Prof. Sezgin has authored chapters in textbooks such as 'Hemşirelikte Lisansüstü Temel Yeterlilik Soru Bankası' and 'Hastalıklar Bilgisi', and led projects like 'Meme kanserini erken tanılamak için online eğitim sonuçları'. She received an award for her work in breast cancer awareness (2012). Her work integrates clinical practice with educational innovation, emphasizing technology-driven healthcare solutions.

Key contributions include a randomized controlled trial on diabetes management via cell phones and mixed-method studies on elderly caregiver stress. She actively participates in academic activities such as the National Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Congress and contributes to journals like the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention and Cyprus Journal of Medical Sciences.
