HALİL KAYIKCI is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in History of Philosophy from Ankara University's Institute of Social Sciences (thesis: Augustine's Understanding of Knowledge). His educational background includes a Master's in Philosophy and Religious Sciences (thesis: Bertrand Russell's Philosophical Method) and an undergraduate degree in Theology from Ankara University.
Research interests focus on the history of philosophy, particularly Saint Augustine's contributions to epistemology and philosophical anthropology. He explores themes like belief-knowledge relations, medieval scholasticism, and modern/postmodern identity crises. His work bridges religious philosophy with social sciences, examining concepts like inner selfhood and intellectual traditions.
Publications include peer-reviewed articles on Augustine's epistemology and contributions to edited volumes addressing contemporary social sciences. He has presented over 20 academic papers internationally and nationally, including studies on modern/postmodern identity fragmentation and scholastic education's impact.
Recipient of the 2011 Bingöl University Academic Personnel Scientific Activity Incentive Program award. Served as referee for 27 journal articles including Sakarya University's Faculty of Theology Journal. Authored/edited books like Augustinus'un Bilgi Felsefesi and contributed chapters to interdisciplinary works.
Teaches courses in Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern Philosophy, alongside Human Rights and Social Work. Fluent in English (TOEFL 227) and actively engaged with the Turkish Philosophy Association.
