H. Tom Soh is a Professor at Stanford University with cross-departmental teaching responsibilities spanning Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Radiology, and Materials Science. His current teaching load includes BIOE 301A: Molecular and Cellular Engineering Lab, EE 235: Molecular and Cellular Engineering Lab, and BIOS 434: Science of Sensing: Exploring Biosensors and Devices across multiple academic terms.
His research focuses on Molecular and Cellular Engineering with emphasis on biosensor development and medical device innovation. Work integrates engineering principles with biological systems to create novel sensing platforms, particularly in radiology applications. Research methodology combines microfluidics, nanotechnology, and cellular manipulation techniques to address challenges in diagnostic technology.
Professor Soh maintains extensive student mentorship through 18 independent study courses including EE 191W (WIM), EE 300 (Master's Thesis), EE 400 (Doctoral Thesis), and department-specific research courses across Bioengineering (BIOE 391/392), Radiology (RAD 280/299/370/399), and Materials Science (MATSCI 300). This advising scope covers undergraduate through doctoral levels with year-round research supervision.
