H. James de St. Germain (Jim) is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the School of Computing, University of Utah. His academic role includes teaching and administrative leadership within the computing program.
Education: He holds a Ph.D. in Legacy Systems Engineering from the University of Utah, advised by William Thompson. His dissertation focused on Reverse Engineering Utilizing Domain Specific Knowledge (2002), leveraging constraint optimization methodologies.
Research Interests: Jim’s work spans Reverse Engineering, Constraint Optimization, Artificial Intelligence, and educational technology innovations in computing. He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex technical problems.
Teaching: Jim has taught extensively since 1999, including courses like CS 1000, CS 1410-EAE, and CS 4960 Capstone Design, reflecting a strong commitment to foundational and applied computer science education.
