معرفی
Gérard Laumon is a distinguished French mathematician who has served as Directeur de Recherche (equivalent to Full Professor) at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) affiliated with Université Paris-Sud since 1989. He was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in 2005 and has made significant contributions to the fields of algebraic geometry, automorphic forms, and number theory.
His educational background includes:
- 1972-1976: Élève at École Normale Supérieure
- 1983: Thèse d'Etat at Université Paris-Sud
- September-December 1997: Member of the Institute for Advanced Study Princeton
Laumon's research focuses on the deep connections between algebraic geometry, number theory, and automorphic forms. His work has advanced our understanding of geometric aspects of the Langlands program, particularly through his contributions to the geometric Langlands correspondence. His research bridges abstract mathematical theory with concrete computational approaches in representation theory and algebraic geometry.
Throughout his career, Laumon has received numerous prestigious honors:
- 2012: Compositio Mathematica Prize and Fellow of the American Mathematical Society
- 2011: Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur
- 2007: Prix Fermat
- 2004: Clay Research Award
- 2005: Member of the French Academy of Sciences
- 1987: Médaille d'argent, CNRS
Laumon has been an invited speaker at multiple International Congresses of Mathematicians (Kyoto 1990, Beijing 2002, Madrid 2006) and has participated in significant mathematical conferences including the James Arthur 60th birthday conference (2004) and Pierre Deligne's 61st birthday conference (2005). His longstanding affiliation with CNRS and Université Paris-Sud places him within one of France's premier mathematical research environments.
