Gábor Lente

Gábor Lente is a full professor at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Science, where he serves as head of both the Institute of Chemistry and Department of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science. Previously, he held faculty positions at the University of Debrecen from 2001-2018, progressing from junior faculty member to full professor. His academic credentials include a Doctor of Science degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2013), Habilitation from University of Debrecen (2008), and Ph.D. (2001).

Professor Lente's research focuses on advanced mathematical methods in chemical kinetics and stochastic kinetics applications. His work spans theoretical developments in reaction mechanisms, nanoparticle formation kinetics, and systems biology applications. He has made significant contributions to understanding oscillatory reactions, nucleation-growth processes, and the mathematical foundations of chemical kinetics.

His recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate continued productivity across multiple subfields including nanoparticle modeling, reaction mechanism analysis, historical perspectives on physical chemistry concepts, and chemistry education. The articles reveal strong integration of mathematical rigor with chemical insight, particularly in areas of stochastic kinetics and analytical solutions to complex kinetic problems.

Lente has supervised several graduate students including Pinke Diána Dorottya and Szabó Rebeka. He has received significant research funding through Hungarian national grants and Fulbright fellowships. As Editor-in-Chief of Reaction Kinetics, Mechanisms and Catalysis journal, he plays a key role in the international kinetics research community. He has organized multiple international conferences including the International Conference on Reaction Kinetics, Mechanisms and Catalysis series.

Professor Lente leads the Reaction Kinetics and Photochemistry Working Group and maintains active research collaborations internationally. His laboratory focuses on developing mathematical models for complex chemical systems, with particular emphasis on stochastic approaches to reaction networks.
