György VASZIL serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Informatics, University of Debrecen. He leads the theoretical computer science research group with a focus on formal language theory and unconventional computational paradigms.
His research expertise includes:
- Formal languages and automata theory
- Unconventional, nature-motivated computational models
- Membrane systems (P systems)
- Nature-inspired computing architectures
As an educator, he supervises graduate students including Adrian Patrick and Anna Kuczik. His teaching portfolio features core theoretical courses such as Computational Foundations of Informatics (Formal Languages and Automata) and Computational Models, where he guides students through fundamental concepts of theoretical computer science.
His department maintains an active research profile in theoretical computer science, encompassing logic, artificial intelligence, set theory, code theory, cryptography, and algorithm development. The department includes multiple faculty members specializing in related theoretical domains, creating a robust research environment for theoretical computer science.
