معرفی
Gyorgy Buzsaki is the Biggs Professor of Neuroscience and Professor of Neurology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He leads the Buzsáki Lab, focusing on neural syntax, hippocampal dynamics, and brain rhythm mechanisms. His work bridges systems neuroscience, computational modeling, and translational neurotechnology.
Education:
- PhD from Hungarian Academy of Sciences
- MD from University of Pecs
Research Interests:
Buzsaki's lab investigates how the brain generates coherent meaning through syntactic rules, focusing on hippocampal-cortical interactions, sharp-wave ripples, and neural oscillations. They develop advanced tools like multi-shank probes and optoelectrodes to study large-scale neural dynamics. Recent work includes ThermoMaze behavioral paradigms and closed-loop optogenetic therapies.
Awards:
- 2024 Nemko Prize in Cellular or Molecular Neuroscience (via lab member Marisol)
Grants & Collaboration:
Lab activities involve collaborations with neurologists (e.g., Itzhak Fried) and engineers to advance neural interface technologies. Recent grants support research on radiofrequency effects in rodent brains and depression treatment via limbic gamma oscillations.
Labs/Teams:
The Buzsáki Lab integrates experimental neurophysiology, computational modeling, and neuroengineering. Key resources include CellExplorer software and the HectoSTAR μLED optoelectrode platform.
