Gwenael Corbel serves as a CNRS Research Officer (full-time researcher) at the Institute of Molecules and Materials of Le Mans (IMMM, UMR CNRS 6283) within Le Mans University's Faculty of Sciences and Techniques. His academic career spans over two decades with continuous research activity since completing his PhD in 1999, including positions as CNRS Research Fellow (2002-2019), Assistant Professor at University P. and M. Curie (2001-2002), and Marie-Curie Research Fellow at University of Cambridge (1999-2001).
Dr. Corbel's research focuses on solid-state chemistry with particular expertise in the synthesis and characterization of fluorides, oxides and mixed anion compounds. His work heavily utilizes powder diffraction techniques (X-ray and neutron) to determine crystal structures and investigate temperature-dependent material properties. A significant portion of his research examines the relationship between structural characteristics and physical properties of materials, with special emphasis on oxide-ion conductors like La2Mo2O9 and related compounds. His more recent work has expanded into bactericidal applications of copper-containing nanomaterials while maintaining his core expertise in ionic conductors.
His publication record shows consistent output over 25+ years with 62 peer-reviewed journal articles, 16 oral presentations, and 8 invited lectures at international conferences, yielding an h-factor of 19.
