Guy Nordenson is a Professor of Architecture at Princeton University’s School of Architecture, with affiliations to the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, the High Meadows Environmental Institute, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on earthquake engineering, climate adaptation, and structural design, particularly in resilient urban systems. Nordenson has held leadership roles, including Commissioner of the NYC Panel on Climate Change (2013-2020) and Secretary of the NYC Public Design Commission (2005-2016).
Education: B.S. from MIT, M.S. from UC Berkeley, and a Loeb Fellowship from Harvard University. His practice, Guy Nordenson and Associates, has completed over 200 projects globally, including major museums and infrastructure. Notable works include the Rothko Chapel expansion (Houston), the Kimbell Art Museum (Fort Worth), and the International African American Museum (Charleston, SC).
Research interests span structural innovation, flood hazard mitigation, and long-range planning for FEMA/USGS. He has authored influential books on structural design, coastal resilience, and urban systems. Awards include induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2009) and the National Academy of Engineers (2022).
