معرفی
Prof. Guy Moore leads a research group focused on Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the fundamental theory describing quarks, gluons, and their interactions. His work investigates QCD under extreme conditions, such as temperatures exceeding 1012 K, which recreate states of matter like the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) found in the early universe or produced in heavy-ion collisions at facilities like CERN and Brookhaven.
The group emphasizes topological properties of QCD, particularly in cosmological contexts, aiming to understand the hypothetical axion particle's potential role as dark matter. They also study transport coefficients in QGP, including viscosity, thermal conductivity, and diffusion, which are critical for modeling heavy-ion collisions and astrophysical phenomena like neutron star mergers.
The research is supported by collaborations with the Collaborative Research Center – Transregio 211, the Research Cluster ELEMENTS, the Helmholtz Research Academy Hesse for FAIR, and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). These partnerships enable investigations into QCD dynamics and their implications for cosmology, astrophysics, and high-energy physics.
