Guy Baron is a lecturer in music production and songwriting at the London South Bank University, School of Arts and Creative Industries. He holds a PhD, MMus, and BMus from Goldsmiths, University of London. His academic work focuses on practice-based research, where he explores the intersection of electronic music production, songwriting, and post-digital aesthetics.

His research interests include popular music, electronic music production, hauntology, vaporwave, and post-digital aesthetics. His work investigates how DAW tools and production techniques can articulate concepts of memory, nostalgia, and emotional ambivalence through audio time-warping, grain delay, and freeze reverb.
In his musical practice, Guy works under the moniker Semi Precious, focusing on bedroom production and hauntology. He co-runs the electronic music label and artist collective squareglass, and his releases have been endorsed by The Sunday Times, The Guardian, and Electronic Sound Magazine. His teaching includes modules on Popular Music Production, Composition Portfolio, and supervision of Year 3 students in Music and Sound Design, as well as MMus students in Creative Practice and Popular Music.
