Gustav Feichtinger is a Full Professor of Operations Research at Technische Universität Wien (since 1972, emeritus since 2008), and Head of the Division for Population Economics at the Vienna Institute for Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (since 2002). He holds a PhD in Mathematics (1963) and Habilitation in Statistics (1970) from the University of Vienna and University of Bonn, respectively. His expertise spans optimal control theory, dynamic games, and nonlinear socio-economic modeling, with notable contributions to population economics, health economics, and the economics of deviant behaviors like addiction and terrorism.
