Bengt Gustafsson is a Professor of Theoretical Astrophysics at Uppsala University. He currently serves as Chair of the Committee for Freedom and Responsibility in the Conduct of Science under the International Council of Science (ICSU). His primary research focuses on stellar atmospheres, chemical abundances, galactic evolution, and the origins of elements within stellar systems.
He has been honored with multiple prestigious memberships including the Royal Swedish Academy of Science (1990), Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters, and Academia Europaea. In 2002, he received the Grand Prize from the Royal Institute of Technology.
