Gupta Vadakattu

Dr. Gupta Vadakattu is a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO and holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Flinders University, Adelaide. His research focuses on the genetic diversity, functional capability, and resilience of soil biota in agricultural systems, with a particular emphasis on microbial communities in soils and aquifers.

• Functional microbiomes for resilient production systems and ecosystem health
• Genetic and environmental regulators of biological disease suppression in soils
• Host-Microbiome interactions in rhizosphere
• Microbial factors regulating nitrogen fixation in crops
• Carbon and nutrient turnover in soils

His research has contributed to understanding the impacts of agrochemicals and genetically modified plants on soil biology, and he has delivered over 100 industry presentations. Awards include the 2015 J.A. Prescott Medal and fellowship in the Australian Society of Microbiology.
