Associate Professor Guohua Jia holds a position at Curtin University's School of Molecular and Life Sciences (MLS), under the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from City University of Hong Kong and conducted postdoctoral research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focuses on semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots, emphasizing their shape-dependent properties and applications in energy, optoelectronics, and catalysis. He has authored over 170 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals like Nature and Advanced Materials.
His awards include the ARC Future Fellowship (2021), FRACI (2023), and multiple mid-career recognitions. He leads the Nanoparticle Group, collaborating internationally to develop sustainable nanomaterials for energy challenges. He has supervised 12 PhD students and actively organizes conferences like the Australian Materials Chemistry Conference (AMCC23). As an editorial board member for journals like Materials & Design, he contributes to advancing materials chemistry.
Key research themes include colloidal nanocrystal synthesis, self-assembly, and applications in lighting, photocatalysis, and detection technologies. His work bridges fundamental nanoscience with practical solutions for energy and environmental sustainability.
