معرفی
Professor Gunther Hartmann is affiliated with the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn, where he serves in the Medical Faculty at the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology. His extensive research portfolio demonstrates leadership in multiple major projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Professor Hartmann's research focuses on immunology with particular expertise in nucleic acid immunity. His work explores the mechanisms of immune recognition through receptors like RIG-I and MDA5, the role of dendritic cells in immune regulation, and the therapeutic applications of immunostimulatory oligonucleotides. His research spans fundamental immunological mechanisms to clinical applications for conditions including multiple sclerosis and cancer.
Professor Hartmann has received prestigious recognition including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Programme award in 2012, one of Germany's highest research honors. He currently leads the Excellence Cluster "ImmunoSensation2 - the immune sensory system" and the Transregio "Nucleic Acid Immunity" as speaker, while also contributing as sub-project manager to several related collaborative research initiatives.
His laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms of immune recognition of nucleic acids, with applications ranging from vaccine development to novel therapeutic approaches for autoimmune diseases and cancer. The research group maintains strong connections with clinical departments, facilitating the translation of basic discoveries into potential therapeutic applications.
