Dr. Guihua Bai is an Adjunct Professor of Wheat Genetics and Breeding in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University and serves as a Molecular Geneticist with USDA/ARS. His research program focuses on developing genetic and genomic resources to improve hard winter wheat in the US Great Plains.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Purdue University (1995)
- M.S. in Plant Genetics and Breeding, Nanjing Agricultural University (1985)
- B.S. in Agronomy, Nanjing Agricultural University (1982)
Research Interests:
- Developing high-throughput genotyping tools and DNA markers for wheat traits
- Identifying QTLs and DNA markers for disease/insect resistance and grain yield
- Gene cloning and functional analysis using gene editing/transgenic methods
- Marker-assisted backcrossing for pyramiding disease resistance genes
