Guido Huijsmans is a Full Professor of Science and Technology of Nuclear Fusion at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Department of Applied Physics. His research focuses on large-scale numerical simulations of plasma instabilities in ITER, the world's largest magnetic confinement fusion experiment. He was awarded the ITER Scientist Fellow (2016) for contributions to ITER's plasma physics research. His work addresses critical challenges in achieving sustainable nuclear fusion energy.
Research Interests: Guido's expertise spans magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), plasma confinement optimization, and computational modeling of fusion reactor scenarios. He investigates transient plasma behaviors in tokamaks and ELM mitigation strategies to enhance ITER's operational efficiency.
Publications: Recent work includes studies on nonlinear MHD modeling in tokamaks, JET experiments with ITER-like walls, and ELM control via resonant magnetic perturbations. These contributions advance predictive capabilities for ITER plasma behavior and fusion reactor design.
Awards: ITER Scientist Fellow (2016).
