Prof. Guido Heidloff-Herzig is a Professor of Music Theory at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) since 2006. His academic background includes studies in school music, German studies, composition, and vocal pedagogy in Cologne, alongside state examinations in music, German studies, and educational science. He holds diplomas in composition and vocal teaching.
Teaching assignments include music theory positions in Hanover, Cologne, and Weimar. His research focuses on Renaissance music, Bach cantatas, Romantic harmony, and Arnold Schoenberg. Notable publications include The Music of the Renaissance (2019) and an article on Josquin Desprez's Missa La sol fa re mi (2006). He maintains a YouTube channel Composers@Work (under construction).
Prof. Heidloff-Herzig has performed as a baritone with ensembles such as Singer Pur and the Hilliard Ensemble, and was a long-standing member of the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart.
