Gubad Ibadoghlu

Gubad Ibadoghlu is a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of International Relations at LSE and part-time lecturer at Rutgers University. His research examines the political economy of natural resources in Caspian Sea Basin regions, focusing on correlations between corruption and authoritarianism, rentier state dynamics, and democratization challenges. He holds a PhD in Economics from Azerbaijan State University of Economics and has held fellowships at Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, Duke University, and Central European University.

His work analyzes petro-authoritarianism, post-Soviet transitions, and economic reforms in resource-dependent states. He previously served as civil society representative to Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative's international board (2013-2019).
