Gro Hovland

Associate Professor Gro Hovland serves at the Department of Health and Caring Sciences at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Campus Førde. She holds significant leadership roles as Coordinator for both the Master's Programme in Anaesthesia Nursing and the Master's Programme in Anesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care Nursing.

Her research focuses on critical areas of modern healthcare delivery, particularly examining the nurse's expertise in municipal and specialist health services, emergency room satellite operations, family perspectives in healthcare, and day surgery protocols. These research strands reflect her commitment to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based nursing practices across different healthcare settings.

Professor Hovland teaches across multiple anesthesia nursing courses including ANE510 (Quality, Patient Safety, and Clinical Governance), ANE511 (Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology), and ANEP513-515 series focusing on practical nursing skills. She also instructs in Philosophy of Science, Ethics and Research Methods (MAMET1ABIO) and supervises Master's Theses (SPE590), demonstrating her comprehensive involvement in graduate education.
