Grete Wærness

Grete Wærness is a Lecturer at the Department of Social Care, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, campus Harstad. Her work focuses on professional competence development in nursing education, particularly through the portfolio method, environmental therapeutic approaches in mental health care, and practice-based learning environments. She has contributed to research on ethics in higher education, vulnerable populations in healthcare, and the role of nurses in TPS (Treatment Planning Systems).

Grete has participated in workshops on clinical guidance and has published extensively on non-pharmacological mental health treatments and reflective practice. Notable collaborations include work with Twentyone Pictures for educational film projects. Her recent publications analyze inpatient ward closures and competency integration in bachelor's nursing programs.
