Gregory Walter is the Harold Ditmanson Distinguished Professor of Religion at St. Olaf College, affiliated with the Department of Religion and Linguistic Studies. His research explores trinitarian ontology, theology's intersections with philosophy of religion, natural science, and social theory, as well as the nature of theological claims. He has published a monograph on theology of gift and place, and currently works on reconstructing theology through pragmatism and a theology of the cross.
Walter engages in interdisciplinary dialogue, addressing figures like Luther, Schleiermacher, and Tillich. He actively contributes to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) through speaking engagements on religious pluralism and liturgy, and serves on an ecclesiology task force. His office hours are Monday 2–3 PM and Wednesday 9–10 AM, or by appointment.
