Gregory W. Hislop is a Professor in the Information Science Department at Drexel University's College of Computing and Informatics. He currently serves as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in CCI, with scholarly interests spanning computing education research, software engineering, and technology in education. His advocacy focuses on the educational and societal benefits of the free and open source movement.

His research examines the educational value of student participation in Humanitarian Free and Open Source Software (HFOSS) projects. He facilitates the Teaching Open Source coordinating committee, a member project of the Software Freedom Conservancy, and has secured funding from the National Science Foundation, Red Hat, Google, and the Mellon and Sloan Foundations.
Dr. Hislop has contributed to national curriculum models in computing disciplines and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in software engineering. Prior to Drexel, he worked in government and industry roles involving technology planning, software development, and technical education management.
