معرفی
Gregory W Schwartz is the Derrick T. Vail Professor of Ophthalmology and an Associate Professor in both Ophthalmology and Neuroscience at Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on understanding the circuit mechanisms underlying sensory computation, using the mouse retina as a model system. He employs advanced techniques such as electrophysiology, computational modeling, and circuit tracing to study how retinal ganglion cells process visual information.
- Education: BS/MS/BA from Brandeis University (2003), PhD from Princeton University (2008), and postdoctoral training at Princeton and University of Washington.
- Research Interests: Sensory computation, retinal circuits, neurobiology, computational modeling, and visual processing.
- Awards: Dertick T. Vail Endowed Chair (2019).
He leads the Schwartz Ophthalmology Lab, which aims to define retinal computations through genetic manipulations and cell-type analysis. His work has implications for future blindness treatments.
