Gregory Vandeberg is a Professor and Department Chair at the University of North Dakota, where he also serves as the Director of the Environmental Studies Program and holds the Gransberg Family Endowed Chair. He joined UND in 2004 after prior roles as a Land Reclamation Specialist, Researcher, and Environmental Specialist in Montana and Minnesota.

Current projects analyze spatial and temporal patterns of algae growth in lakes across glaciated regions.
