Dr. Gregory Petersen is an Assistant Professor of Sport Management at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), part of the College of Business and Professional Studies. With over 20 years of teaching experience across K-12 and higher education, his expertise spans sport management, personal fitness, and athletic administration. He has coached multiple sports including basketball, track, tennis, and softball, achieving notable successes such as guiding eight track athletes to state finals and leading JCSU's women's tennis team to two consecutive CIAA finals.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science from Alabama State University
- Master of Science from Western Kentucky University
- Doctor of Education (Ed.D) from United States Sports Academy
Research & Professional Experience: Dr. Petersen has held roles in NFL (Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys Communications Departments) and MLS (Charlotte FC, Crown Legacy FC). His work integrates sports industry leadership with educational mentorship, emphasizing student opportunities through professional networks. He has also served as a volunteer coach and part-owner of the Union City/Queen City Slamm in the XBA.
Labs/Teams: Coaches men's and women's tennis teams at JCSU.
