Gregory McGee

Gregory McGee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Biology at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). He serves as Undergraduate Curriculum Director and has held roles in faculty governance, including past membership in the Executive Committee and chairmanship of the Student Affairs Committee. His research focuses on forest management practices, land-use history impacts on biodiversity, and ecosystem processes, with a particular emphasis on structural features like decaying logs and their influence on plant, fungal, and invertebrate communities. He also develops citizen science programs for ecological restoration and collaborates on innovative STEM education models. McGee teaches courses such as EFB 101, EFB 102, and EFB 202, emphasizing ecological monitoring and biodiversity assessment.

His recent work highlights the interplay between forest management and biodiversity conservation, including studies on microarthropod communities and biomass dynamics in northern hardwood forests.
