معرفی
Gregory A. Weiss is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). His research focuses on developing tools to dissect and control biomolecules, with expertise in chemical biology, bioengineering, and nanotechnology. He leads the Weiss Lab, which explores protein engineering, single-molecule bioelectronics, and innovative methods for cancer diagnosis through collaborations with experts like Professors Reg Penner and Phil Collins.
Research Interests: The lab investigates bacteriophage modification, real-time enzymatic mechanisms using carbon nanocircuits, and organic synthesis of compounds like azidophenylalanine. Projects include engineering proteins for cellular and single-molecule studies, such as T4 lysozyme attached to carbon nanotubes, and developing rapid cancer diagnostic platforms integrating phage-based sensors into electronic circuits.
Labs/Teams: The Weiss Lab actively recruits researchers at all levels for projects in chemical biology, bioengineering, and biophysics. Collaborative efforts emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to address challenges in molecular biology and nanotechnology.
