Gregor Hensen

Prof. Dr. Dr. Gregor Hensen is a full-time Professor of Social Work at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo). His academic career includes doctorates in Medical Sciences and General Pedagogy, alongside extensive professional experience in social work, healthcare, and educational policy.

Education and Qualifications: Hensen holds a Diplom in Pedagogy and Sociology from the University of Münster, a medical doctorate (Dr. rer. medic.) from the University of Münster’s Medical Faculty, and a second doctorate in General Pedagogy from the University of Bamberg. He is also state-certified as a physiotherapist and social pedagogue.

Research Focus: His work centers on inclusive education, child protection, and social planning. Key areas include interprofessional collaboration in early childhood education, systemic approaches to family support, and policy analysis for equitable social services. He leads the university’s internal research focus on inclusive education and has authored/co-authored over 50 books and peer-reviewed articles.

Professional Activities: Hensen serves on the board of Aidshilfe Osnabrück e.V., edits the journal Forum Erziehungshilfen, and is a member of the International Society for Educational Assistance (IGfH). He has coordinated major research projects, such as evaluations of early intervention programs in NRW and Baden-Württemberg.

Teaching: He teaches modules on social exclusion/inclusion, communal social planning, and health promotion within the BA and MA Social Work programs. His lectures emphasize organizational development in social work and interdisciplinary strategies for inclusion.
