Gregg Wilhelm

Gregg Wilhelm serves as Director of the MFA Program and Associate Professor of Creative Writing at George Mason University's English Department (College of Humanities and Social Sciences). A Baltimore native, he holds an MFA from University of Tampa and has held leadership roles at Johns Hopkins University Press, Maryland Institute College of Art, and founded the CityLit Project. His research interests span literary arts administration, book publishing, and creative writing pedagogy.

Education: M.F.A. (Creative Writing, University of Tampa), M.A. (Theology, St. Mary's Seminary), B.A. (Communication, Loyola University Maryland). He co-founded Watershed Lit at GMU and has served on National Endowment for the Arts grant panels. Notable works include the Clash by Night poetry anthology and literary journalism pieces for City Paper.

Awards include Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award and RUBYs Grant. His creative output includes poetry and short stories exploring urban identity and cultural memory. Professional service includes directing CityLit Festival and literary nonprofits.
