Greg Vercellotti is a Professor of Medicine at the Medical School, University of Minnesota, where he serves as Section Head of Classical Hematology and is affiliated with the Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology (MICaB) Ph.D. Graduate Program. He also directs the Hematology T32 Research Training Grant and mentors students in the Medical Scientist Training Program.
His research focuses on hematology, sickle cell disease pathophysiology, complement activation, and inflammation, with a particular emphasis on vascular complications and novel therapeutic strategies. Recent work includes studies on mast cell extracellular traps, anti-G-CSFR antibodies, and JAK-STAT inhibitors in mouse models.
Scientific awards include Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). He has led clinical trials on allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation and reduced-intensity conditioning regimens, and his work spans gene therapy, pharmacological interventions, and translational hematology. Collaborative studies on coagulation biology and extracellular vesicle dynamics further highlight his cross-disciplinary contributions.
