Grayson Clary

Grayson Clary is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University's Center for Security Studies (CSS). He serves as a staff attorney at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, focusing on press rights in national security, law enforcement accountability, and emerging technologies. Clary previously clerked for Judge Merrick B. Garland on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and worked as a Research Associate at the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Digital Futures Project.

Education: B.A. from Yale College and J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he won the Sears Prize and edited the Harvard Law Review. His expertise spans civil liberties, press freedom, and surveillance, reflected in writings for outlets like The Atlantic, Lawfare, and War on the Rocks.

He advises the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker and advocates for media rights through litigation and policy work.
