Grant A. McCallum

Grant A. McCallum serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, with joint affiliations at the Neural Engineering Center and School of Medicine. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (2011) and brings industry experience from Texas Instruments and nVidia as a Senior ASIC Design Engineer.

His research advances neural engineering technologies, focusing on:

• Peripheral nerve interfaces for bidirectional communication
• Low-noise neural recording systems for precise signal acquisition
• Implantable biotelemetry devices for chronic physiological monitoring

His recent publications (2017-2021) demonstrate consistent focus on chronic neural interfaces, particularly exploring autonomic nervous system interactions, tumor neurophysiology, and carbon nanotube electrode innovations. This work bridges neural engineering, oncology, and materials science.

Dr. McCallum leads research at the Neural Engineering Center, developing next-generation neural interfaces and collaborates with clinical researchers for biomedical applications.
