Graikou Konstantia

Graikou Konstantia is a Senior Lecturer and Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a PhD in Pharmacognosy & Chemistry of Natural Products and has conducted post-doctoral research on Greek endemic plants. Her expertise spans phytochemical analysis, antimicrobial activity assessment, and bioactive compound identification in plants and bee products.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on chemical analysis of edible and pharmaceutical plants, phytochemical characterization of Greek endemic species, and evaluation of antimicrobial/antioxidant properties of natural products. Key areas include honey, propolis, royal jelly, and essential oils.

Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles, including studies on Greek herbal teas (e.g., Kainari), propolis bioactivity, and the neuropharmacological effects of royal jelly in aging models.

Awards: Received the Rector's Prize (2015) from the Medical University of Warsaw for her work on royal jelly's cognitive effects. Recognized for scientific review contributions to journals like Journal of Ethnopharmacology.

Teaching & Outreach: Managed the Olympic Games 2004 Doping Control Lab and taught food analysis at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. Currently leads pharmacognosy laboratory modules at the University of Athens.
