Graeme Polglase is a Professor (Research) in the Department of Paediatrics at Monash University and Monash Health, affiliated with The Ritchie Centre and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. He is a leading expert in neonatal and perinatal physiology, focusing on the transition at birth, resuscitation, and organ protection in preterm and compromised infants.

His work combines preclinical models with translational outcomes, aiming to refine neonatal resuscitation practices and improve survival without brain damage. His studies on physiologically-based cord clamping, abdominal compression during resuscitation, and neuroprotection have informed international guidelines.
His recent publications (2023–2025) focus on reducing cerebrovascular injury, optimizing respiratory support after caesarean delivery, and using neuroimaging for early brain injury detection. These works reflect a strong trend in integrating physiology, imaging, and clinical innovation to enhance neonatal outcomes.
