Graeme Luke is a Professor at McMaster University, leading the Luke Group. He holds a PhD (Physics) from the University of British Columbia (1988) and a BASc (Engineering Physics) from Queen's University (1984). Before joining McMaster in 1998, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor at Columbia University following a postdoctoral fellowship there. His research focuses on magnetism, superconductivity, and quantum spin liquids, employing techniques like muon spin relaxation and neutron scattering. He has received the Brockhouse Medal (2019) and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
Research interests include geometrically frustrated magnets, pyrochlore materials, and the interplay of superconductivity and magnetism. The Luke lab, located in ABB-B143, houses advanced instrumentation such as SQUID magnetometers and He gas hydrostatic pressure systems. His group has produced over 20 alumni, many advancing to postdoctoral roles or faculty positions globally.
