Professor Graeme Laurie is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Edinburgh's School of Law, and Founding Director of the JK Mason Institute for Medicine, Life Sciences, and the Law. He previously held the Chair of Medical Jurisprudence (2005–2019) and served as Director of Research for the School of Law (2011–2014). He leads a £1 million Wellcome Trust-funded project on health research regulation and co-directs the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society.
He holds an LLB and PhD, and his research focuses on medical law, bioethics, and the intersection of law with biomedicine and technology. Key roles include Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Bioethics Review and leadership of the AHRC-funded SCRIPT Centre (2007–2011). His interdisciplinary work bridges legal, ethical, and social science perspectives in biomedical innovation.
