Grace Doris Paterson

Grace Doris Paterson is a Research Fellow at the University of Inland Norway, affiliated with the Department of Law, Philosophy and International Studies. Her work focuses on conceptual, metaphysical, and ethical dimensions of speech acts, particularly involving collective or institutional actors under non-ideal circumstances. She holds a PhD from Stanford University (2018) and previously conducted postdoctoral research in Vienna. Currently, she contributes to the project 'Perceiving Voice and Speaker' led by Anna Drożdżowicz, developing an account of listening aligned with speech act theory.

Her research interests span Philosophy of Language, Social Ontology, and ethical frameworks for analyzing institutional speech acts. She has collaborated internationally and maintains a personal academic website and PhilPeople profile.
