Gordon Taub is an Assistant Professor at Washington State University's College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. He transitioned from a career in computer-aided video editing and karaoke hosting to pursue academic training in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering, earning his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2013.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, University of Florida, 2013
- M.S. in Applied Mathematics, University of Washington, 2008
- B.S. in Applied Computational and Mathematical Sciences (ACMS), University of Washington, 2007
His research focuses on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), particularly in renewable energy applications such as wind farm design and hydro-kinetic energy harvesting. He also investigates flow-induced vibrations, turbulent jets, and plumes.
Before joining Washington State University in Fall 2016, Taub held a postdoctoral fellowship at École Polytechnique's Laboratoire d'Hydrodynamique (LadHyX) near Paris, France (2013–2014), and taught engineering and computer science at Everett Community College. Outside academia, he enjoys science fiction, rollerblading, karaoke, and Tae Kwon Do.
