Gonzalo Forgues-Puccio is a Lecturer at Dundee Business School, Abertay University, where he has served as Head of the Division of Accounting, Finance and Economics since 2015. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester, an MSc in Economics and Econometrics from the same institution, and a BA (Hons) in Economics from Universidad Católica Boliviana. His research focuses on Economic Growth and Development, Governance and Corruption, Inequality and Income Distribution, and Financial Markets and Institutions.
He has held academic roles at the University of St Andrews, University of Glasgow, University of Manchester, and the London School of Economics. His teaching spans Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Macroeconomics, International Finance, and Development Economics. Professional affiliations include the Scottish Economic Society, Royal Economic Society, and Bolivian Society of Economists.
His recent publications analyze corruption’s role in economic development, gender inequality’s impact, and financial liberalization effects. Earlier work explored corruption’s variable harm across nations and distributional models of misgovernance. He has received grants from the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics and conducted consultancy for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) on anti-corruption strategies.
