Gong Sen

Dr. Gong Sen serves as Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Zhejiang University's School of Public Affairs, where he directs the Centre for International Studies on Development and Governance. He concurrently holds leadership positions as Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Asian Review of Political Economy, Council member of the Institute for International Affairs at Qianhai Guangdong, and Chairman of the Central Committee for Social and Legal Affairs of the China Association for Promoting Democracy.

His research spans social policy frameworks with emphasis on sustainable development and international cooperation mechanisms, specifically addressing social security systems, healthcare reform, and employment policy. Dr. Gong has authored over 10 influential books including Better Use of Social Policy and Governance for Healthy Social Order and Chinese Healthcare Reform: Problems, Root Causes and Policy Options, alongside nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as The Lancet and Social Sciences in China, with more than 30 policy papers receiving direct recognition from Chinese governmental bodies.

As principal investigator, Dr. Gong has led more than 40 national and international cooperative projects while supervising doctoral candidates in social policy. He maintains active policy engagement through prior service on the United Nations Committee for Development Policy and multiple Chinese ministerial advisory committees spanning health, civil affairs, and labor sectors.
