Gloria Gonzalez Fuster

Gloria Gonzalez Fuster is a Research Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)'s Faculty of Law and Criminology and Director of the Law, Science, Technology & Society (LSTS) Large Research Group. She holds a BOF research position focusing on 'Digitalisation & a Europe of rights and freedoms'. Her academic roles include teaching Privacy and Data Protection Law at VUB and the LL.M. program at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, and she is a Professorial Fellow at UNU-CRIS.

Research Focus: Her work centers on EU data protection law (GDPR), AI governance, privacy rights, and ethical technology integration. She leads projects like ALTEP-DP (EU Data Protection Enforcement) and HARNESS (AI and Data-Intensive Technologies). She is a member of the European Commission's GDPR Expert Group and chairs initiatives like the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies (BCUS).

Awards & Roles: Recognized with the DATATRANSCO award (2022) and Repair Café for Digital Rights (2020). She contributes to editorial boards (EDPL Review, Asser Press), and academic networks (PLSC Committee, DPSN).
