Glenn Stanley is a Professor of Music at the University of Connecticut, specializing in Historical Musicology with a focus on the music of the classic and romantic periods in German-speaking Europe.
His research spans Beethoven studies, 19th-century choral music, aesthetics, music criticism, and methodological approaches. Stanley has published extensively in American, British, and German academic journals and books, contributing three articles to the revised New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians in related fields. He has edited volumes 3 and 7 of Beethoven Forum and the Cambridge Companion to Beethoven, demonstrating significant scholarly impact in musicology.
Stanley serves as book-review editor for 19th-century Music and sits on the editorial boards of Beethoven Forum and the Journal of the American Musicological Society. He regularly writes program notes for Carnegie Hall and is currently developing a chapter on Parsifal for the Cambridge Companion to Wagner, alongside essays on Beethoven's orchestration techniques and the reception of Fidelio for the Beethoven-Handbuch.
