معرفی
Professor Glenn Jacobson is the Head of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the University of Tasmania. His research focuses on pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology, and sports medicine, particularly in the area of beta2-agonist pharmacokinetics and anti-doping control. He has led multiple projects funded by organizations such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), investigating drug detection methods and thresholds for performance-enhancing substances like salbutamol and formoterol. His work bridges basic pharmacology, clinical applications, and anti-doping policy.
Research interests include:
- Enantioselective disposition of beta2-agonists
- Performance-enhancing drug detection
- Pharmacokinetic modeling for anti-doping
- Adrenergic signaling in muscle physiology
- Therapeutic drug monitoring in athletes
Notable grants include WADA-funded studies on urine thresholds for salmeterol and formoterol, and exosome-based biomarker development for erythropoietin (EPO) detection. His lab has published extensively on beta2-agonist metabolism, with over 130 research outputs. Supervision includes 16 doctoral and master's students in areas like nutraceuticals, drug stability, and anti-doping science.
Service engagements include media interviews on anti-doping issues and collaboration with international pharmaceutical companies on drug formulation and quality control. He holds an ORCID identifier (0000-0002-3409-8769) and is based at the Pharmacy Building, Sandy Bay Campus.
