Gizem Arat serves as Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Dominican University, bringing international expertise developed through academic work in Turkey, the United States, and Hong Kong. Her recent investigations explore students' expectations regarding cultural humility implementation in higher education settings, emphasizing practical applications of equity principles through pandemic response analysis in Hong Kong and child welfare studies in Ghana. This work bridges theoretical social justice concepts with tangible community interventions.

Her 2023-2024 publications reveal consistent thematic focus: applying social justice lenses to resilience during crises (particularly pandemic contexts), examining multicultural dynamics in East Asia, and analyzing health disparities through intersectional frameworks.
